This is a new version of ASLVTOC. The program name should be added as a TSO command in TSOKEYnn. The program must be named ASLVTOC or it will fail.

ASLVTOC is a TSO command processor that will list the VTOC of the volume serial number passed to it as a parameter. By default this list will only include datasets that are either uncataloged or cataloged to another volume.

ASLVTOC can also be used to return the status of a volume (i.e. Online or Offline).

The command for invoking ASLVTOC is:

ASLVTOC vvvvvv

 ALL
UNCAT
STATUS

Where vvvvvv is the volume serial number of the disk to be listed.

The default action is UNCAT which will list all of the datasets that are either uncataloged or cataloged but to a different volume.

ALL will cause ASLVTOC to list all the datasets on the volume.

STATUS will return a message indicating if the specified volume is online or offline.

Source Code

The program ASLVTOC released as Object Code Only (OCO).

z/OS XMI library

This link will take you to a XMIT file that contains the z/OS libraries containing the ASLVTOC program and help files in IBM TSO TRANSMIT format. This file should be transferred to the z/OS system using a file transfer program. The file must be transferred as a BINARY file. It should be transferred as a fixed blocked, 80 byte file.

Once the file is on z/OS it will have to be received. To do this you use the TSO RECEIVE command. Please refer to the IBM RECEIVE command for details on the use of this TSO command.

Once this dataset has been RECEIVEd you will need to execute the UNPACK member. This will unpack all the TRANSMITTED datasets.

You do this by entering the following command on a TSO command line:

TSO EXEC 'install.ASLVTOC.PDS(UNPACK)'

Reply to the prompts and when the exec is complete read the $$INSTAL member to finish installing the facility.
